Zombie and Animal Bait

Throw it, they come

A craftable throwable bait. Zombies and animals within range run to where it lands and stop to eat it. While baited they are only hurt by the player who threw it (turrets and traps leave them alone). Server-side: players install nothing.

Commands

Type these in game chat. /t, /tame and /thralls work in place of /thrall, and thrall in the F1 console does the same. A number comes from /thrall list, and a thrall's name works anywhere a number does.

Discord posts: build your webhook.txt

Paste your Discord webhook, pick which Bait posts you want (tames, levels, evolutions, retirements, Alphas) and how they read, or turn them all off, and download a ready webhook.txt.

Build your webhook.txt

Server only. Already running Blood Moon Sound with a discord.txt? Leave the URL empty and Bait posts to that webhook, with the choices below. Every message can use the placeholders below; \n starts a new line, and an empty message uses the standard one.

In Discord: channel settings > Integrations > Webhooks > New Webhook > Copy Webhook URL. Keep it private: anyone with it can post in that channel. The file is made right here in your browser, so the URL is never sent anywhere.

Placeholders you can use in messages
{player}
the player who tamed, owns or retired the thrall (the nearest player for an Alpha sighting)
{thrall}
the thrall's name, or its creature type if it has none
{creature}
the creature type, like "Feral Wight"
{level}
its level
{kills}
its kills (level, evolve and retire messages)
{from}
what it was before it evolved (evolve message)
{alpha}
the Alpha's name (Alpha messages)
{where}
how far and which way the Alpha is from {player}, like "85m NE" (Alpha sighting)
\n
a new line

off stops every Bait post, even with a webhook in Blood Moon Sound's discord.txt

Name the posts are made under.

Tames

rare = radiated, charged, infernal, bosses and demolishers; all = every tame; off = none

Only post tames of this level or more (0 = any)

Posted for a tame: {player}, {creature}, {thrall}, {level}

Levels

Post at every multiple of this level, like 50, 100, 150 (0 = never)

Posted for a level milestone: {thrall}, {player}, {creature}, {level}, {kills}

Evolutions and retirements

A thrall evolved with /thrall evolve.

Posted for an evolution: {player}, {from}, {thrall}, {creature}, {level}, {kills}

A thrall retired with /thrall retire.

Posted for a retirement: {player}, {thrall}, {creature}, {level}, {kills}

Alphas

A named Alpha appeared near a player (AlphaEveryDays in AzraelBait.cfg).

Posted when an Alpha appears: {alpha}, {creature}, {level}, {where}, {player}

Someone tamed an Alpha (this replaces the tame post for it).

Posted when an Alpha is tamed: {player}, {alpha}, {creature}, {level}

Goes in Mods/AzraelBait/webhook.txt. Put it in the mod folder on the server (never in a zip you give players), then type /thrall admin webhook reload in game chat as an admin, or restart the server. /thrall admin webhook test sends a test post.

v1.13.0Current

  • better control over Discord posts: webhook.txt now picks which posts are sent (tames: rare, all or off, with a minimum level; level milestones; evolutions; retirements; Alpha sightings and tames), how each one reads, and the bot name. Enabled=off or /thrall admin webhook off stops them all. /thrall admin webhook reload|test without a restart. A webhook.txt that is only the URL still works.
Older versions (v1.12.1, v1.12.0, v1.11.0, v1.10.0, v1.9.0, v1.8.0)

v1.12.1Download v1.12.1

  • fix: spike traps, barbed wire, blade traps and electric fences no longer kill thralls (TrapsSpareThralls, on by default).

v1.12.0

  • thralls guard your backpack when you die, rush to you at low HP, walk quietly while you crouch and make no heat; /t short commands and aliases; /thrall scream, pvp, duel, secondchance, retire, kennel, goto, stats; catch-up XP, owner XP share and quest kill credit; a named Alpha after every horde night (Feast bait only); new Thrall Whistle item, Bait Feeder and Thrall Kennel blocks; per-creature caps, taming resistance, config preset casual|default|hardcore, an admin audit log and a name filter. See [Bait/README.md](Bait/README.md#new-in-1120).

v1.11.0

  • stronger animal thralls: they keep up with the day-based level wild zombies start at, and deal 50% more and take a third less damage (AnimalDayLevels, AnimalDamagePct, AnimalToughPct).

v1.10.0

  • perks at levels 10/25/50, guard posts, patrol routes, blood moon mode, /thrall top leaderboard, /thrall scout, /thrall evolve, admin heal/revive/tp, and Discord posts for rare tames, level milestones and evolutions.

v1.9.0

  • thralls by name, /thrall here, where, move, deaths, teams, auto-heal, a low bait warning, uneaten bait comes back to the thrower, new Lure Bait (zombies only), bait stacks to 100.

v1.8.0

  • per-thrall auto-revive with plain bait (/thrall autorevive <n>).
